Mindfulness

Mindfulness has been described by Mark Teasdale and colleagues as the following:

• A gateway to awareness of our experience

• A different way of knowing our experience

• A way of sidestepping a ruminative mind, or cascade of thoughts

• A way of reconnecting with feelings (those we like, those we don’t like, those we don’t know that we have)

• A way of befriending our feelings

• A way of seeing our thoughts as creations of the mind

• A way of creating space

• A way of reconnecting with all of our experiences
